On Saturday 4 June 2022, a ceremony will be held to rename Aspen Island on Lake Burley Griffin to Queen Elizabeth II Island. This ceremony will also include a dedication of the new Queen Elizabeth Water Gardens, which will transform nearby foreshore and improve water quality in Lake Burley Griffin.

At approx. 11.30 am members of the public can view a 21 Gun Salute and RAAF flypast from vantage points around Canberra’s Lake Burley Griffin Central Basin (weather permitting).
